What's it all about?
In July we had the absolute pleasure to take part in Helsinki Fashion Week 2018. We showed our new collection Odyssey, alongside of amazing sustainable fashion brands like MEM by Paula Malleus, Hoh Pabissi, Kata Szegedi, N&S Gaia, Tiziano Guardini, Fuenf and Nathalia Jmag.
Helsinki Fashion Week is known for it's sustainable approach on show casing both established and emerging fashion brands around the world. "We want to contribute to the fashion revolution by creating the change from inside the industry, which is why besides organising the only eco-driven fashion week for professionals and consumers, we also lecture in leading Universities and fashion events to challenge designers and the whole industry to think sustainable and most of all, understand it." states the official press release. Being so concentrated on sustainability Helsinki Fashion Week was featured all around the world in publications like British Vogue, Australian Marie Claire and Vogue Italia just to mention few.
The fashion shows took place in Säiliö 468, a gorgeous old oil silo outside the Helsinki city centre. Our show was in the morning, the second show of the day. We we're putting together the show at the backstage, built from old shipping containers. Needless to say than it was boiling hot in the container as Helsinki was delighting in/suffering from the same heat wave that reached several other European countries as well.
Hair and makeup
Despite the boiling hot weather Otto Aleksi (Studio 36) and his team built absolutely fierce, mohawk style hair dos. The awesome out-of-this-world make up was done by Fanny Heinonen with her talented team. The look that they created was perfect for the collection that was inspired by retro space adventures. All the products used to establish this look were from a natural cosmetics brand Lauren Brooke Cosmetiques sponsored by Twist Be.
The fashion show
The fashion show itself was amazing. The interior colour of the the venue matched perfectly to the colour scheme of the new collection Odyssey. Weather was sunny and beams of light penetrated the holes in the walls creating dreamy vibes in the old oil silo. We got 15 models rocking the runway walking as fierce as the collection they were presenting. The models and their looks were spot on don't you think?!
We are ever so grateful for given the opportunity to show our talent in such an innovative event. Special thanks to Evelyn Mora, the force behind the Helsinki Fashion Week.
